January 2021 Deadlines & Tax Document Submission, Staff Updates & Unemployment Taxability
The following are due in January 2021:
1/15: 4th Estimated Tax Payment
1/31: 4th Quarter Payroll Tax for the quarter of 10/1-12/31
1/31: 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC & 1096-MISC
Sending us your tax documents:
We now be using ShareFile as a secure way for you to send us your tax documents. This should be up and running by mid-January. You can email aosban@zulchtax.com for a secure link that you can use. No username or password is required. Other ways to transmit your documents to us:
Scan & email to anyone in our office
Fax to us (845) 758-1297
Drop your copies in our locked drop box located on the front porch
Mail to 8 Prince Street, Red Hook NY 12571
As a reminder, if we receive original forms, we will store them in our archived for three years after which time they will be shredded unless you call in advance to arrange for a pickup.
Staff Updates:
We are happy to announce that our front office assistant, Alicia Osban, will be continuing as a member of our staff after starting with us as seasonal tax help earlier this year. In addition, Amy Beals, who has been with us for two tax seasons, is now a permanent member of our staff! We are also pleased to welcome back Deb Cole as a seasonal tax preparer along with Cody Albrecht who is a new member of our seasonal staff. We have built a good team here at Zulch Tax, and know you will be in good hands with any one of our team members!
Unemployment Income is Taxable:
This is just another reminder than any Unemployment Income received is considered taxable income. If you do not have federal or state taxes withheld from this income and do not make estimated payments on this income, any federal and state taxes will be due when your 2020 tax return is filed by April 15, 2021.
