Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) & What To Do When You Receive Your Tax Return From Us

What is Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA)?

To meet e-signature requirements for the IRS, we use KBA for identity verification when requesting electronic signatures on federal and state e-file forms. When you receive a KBA email from us, you are required to answer questions as part of the identity verification. You should read each question carefully as some might ask, for example, to confirm a former address, not your current address. While we want to protect our client’s identities by using the most secure option, we also don’t want our clients to get frustrated with the process. If you have any questions about KBA or have issues when signing, please contact our front office.

What to do when you receive your completed tax return from us:

Because of the security features when using Share Files, the files we send will expire after 6 months. We highly recommend downloading the full tax return to a computer and/or printing a full copy once you receive it from us so you will always have a copy if needed in the future.
