IRS Ends Most Unannounced Visits to Taxpayers:
As part of their transformation efforts, on July 24 th the IRS announced they will end most unannounced visits to taxpayers by agency officers. Effective immediately, these unannounced visits will end except in a few unique circumstances (summonses and subpoenas) and will be replaced with mailed letters known as a 725-B to schedule a follow-up meeting. This will help taxpayers feel more prepared when it is time to meet.
